Genevieve_Gourley Growing up in Michigan, Genevieve Gourlay spent most of her time outdoors, playing sports and enjoying the lakes and forests of the area.  She attended Michigan State University (MSU) for undergraduate studies and also had the opportunity to actively participate in student athletics and represented MSU on the collegiate track team.  She graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s of Science in Athletic Training.  During those years on the track team, she nurtured her competitive spirit and passion for running and maintaining a fit and healthy lifestyle, which she continues to this day.

Beginning her career in medicine as an Athletic Trainer (ATC), she provided medical care for multiple High Schools and performed Physical Therapy (PT) as a staff member for a local PT clinic.  Wanting to extend her knowledge and reach more patients in need, she attended the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN where she obtained her Masters of Physician Assistant Medical Science.  While in her second year of the PA program, Genevieve discovered a fascination with Neurosurgery while conducting her clinical elective rotation in Neurosurgery at Vanderbilt.  Fulfilling her desire to learn more about the intricacies of brain and spinal injuries, she pursued a position as a PA specializing in Neurosurgery.

Ms. Gourlay, chose to move across the country to work for CHI St. Joseph.  She feels that this is a great opportunity and is looking forward to working with the generous and caring family that make up her team.

In her free time, Genevieve enjoys spending time with her fiancé, three dogs and one cat. She also enjoys running and exercise, spending time outdoors, traveling and quilting.
