Samba Reddy, Ph.D., R.Ph.

Dr. Samba Reddy is a Professor of Neuroscience & Experimental Therapeutics at Texas A&M College of Medicine. Dr. Reddy is a board-certified clinical pharmacist. He directs NIH- & DOD-funded research projects on brain disorders, particularly epilepsy, status epilepticus, traumatic brain injury, and chemical neurotoxicity. He teaches medical and graduate courses and mentors students in brain research. He has been continuously funded by the NIH for over 12 years and runs a productive research laboratory. Dr. Reddy was instrumental in discovering many preclinical models, mechanism-based treatment strategies, and novel “first-in-class” medicines for seizure disorders. He has published 150 papers (h-index 40), co-authored 250 presentations, and delivered 100 lectures worldwide.

Dr. Reddy got his Pharmacy degree in 1992 and his Ph.D. at the Panjab University in 1998. He worked as postdoctoral fellow at the U.S. National Institutes of Health in the intramural NINDS, Bethesda, Maryland. In 2008 he joined the faculty of the Texas A&M University College of Medicine in Bryan, Texas, where he has been teaching and conducting research on epilepsy neuroscience and drug development. Previously, he also done research at the North Carolina State in the Research Tringle Park.

He is the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Nanotechnology, an Editor of Epilepsy Currents, and a Review Editor for Frontiers in Neuroscience and, Frontiers in Pharmacology journals. He serves as expert member in federal scientific committees, including the NIH, DOD, EPA and U.S. Pharmacopoeia (USP). He won a number of awards for his research excellence, including the NIH FARE Award (2000), ASPET Award (2004), Sigma-Xi Research Award (2006), ASIOA Award (2007), and TANA Award (2013), TAMHSC Research Excellence Award (2015). He was elected fellow of both the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), which is the world's largest scientific society and publisher of the journal Science
